'No Gays Allowed' sign put up at hardware store

Twitter thread on the subject

Edit to add link to story which I couldn't find earler

This is what happens when assholes like that Colorado baker aren't reminded that public means public.  He got away with just not having to bake a cake, but now the bigots have taken it to the next level by banning gays from their store completely.

I'm sure that even the RWers can make the distinction between the two, but many of them think that this is something to be cheered...

People have the right to be assholes in America. Just look around.

just goes to show that wingnuts who put signs in store windows have not changed much

Decades ago, some restaurants and stores in the Southwest posted signs on their doors warning "No dogs or Mexicans allowed." It's hard to believe that this used to be acceptable.

And in Norfolk VA, it was "Dogs and sailors keep off the grass."

Yes, I was there. It was sick, but they had every right to do that.

Not the same thing as saying "No gays allowed" in a store open to the public.

What if the store is not open to the public?

Then the rules are different.  You might recall this was a stunt used by many businesses in the south during the civil rights era to get around the law.

The question is how much additional business will he get from that sign compared to business he will lose?

I think he's going to lose a lot more.
