(Edited Churchill Downs release)

On April 26, after the dedication of the Barbaro memorial sculpture at Churchill Downs, the Kentucky Derby Museum will open a tribute exhibit, Barbaro: The Heart of a Winner. This exhibit will offer a multi-dimensional view of Barbaro as a champion athlete and a fighter; a horse that rose to the top of his game by winning the Kentucky Derby and then struggling against long odds for survival.

The exhibit will feature his racing accomplishments, his connection with fans and children, his struggle to overcome injury, and his ability to capture the hearts of many. It will document his struggle with laminitis, along with the extensive medical care he received.

Other special features include: 2006 Kentucky Derby Gold Cup, racing silks, Edgar Prado’s racing saddle, fan mail and scrap book. Guests will also be able to record their thoughts about Barbaro in a video booth. The digital sentiments will then be posted on youtube.com.

Tickets for the Barbaro Memorial Breakfast, which is from 8-10 a.m., are on sale now. Proceeds of the $150 tickets partially benefit Barbaro Fund for Laminitis Research. It will be hosted by Barbaro’s owners Roy and Gretchen Jackson. Guests will also hear an exclusive “Making of the Memorial” presentation by sculptor Alexa King.

Tickets also include a private opening of the museum’s new Barbaro: Heart of a Winner exhibit.

Tickets are available online at www.derbymuseum.org.

I have no idea what to say in the recording part of this exhibit.  I guess we can say something about Barbaro..our own tribute and it will be placed on you tube.

I know.  I will be the person just sitting there for minutes saying nothing!  Some people here are so good at this stuff.  Me, I will be speechless.
What I want to know is, Is there a time limit? I could go on and on about Barbaro!!!

There is a mock-up of a horse in the starting gate in the Museum.  You can climb on the horse and see what a Jockey see's before the gates open.  Linda, that is what you can be doing with your time. ;)

regretfully, no - even if $ were no object (like in the good old days when I was gainfully employed) - I can't travel due to having 2 cats on twice a day meds, including one on insulin - can't "fudge" on their regimens! I will be with you all in spirit.
