WTH? This makes no sense unless he was injured and no chance of a comeback.

He ran in the Twighlight Derby at Santa Anita on Oct 31 and ran 9th of 10.

I think the decision was done to keep his value up, and there maybe a small injury they are not telling us about.

Just saw this post from you.  Best wishes to Art and his wife in retirement.  Always hoped he would have another pretty good one before retirement.  He was such a gentleman and represented Chrome and racing in an exemplary fashion throughout Chrome's campaign.  What a nice man!

race -- his 29th win-- he will now retire with 2.5 million bucks--

I was so happy he won!! I hope he enjoys retirement!

So glad he was able to retire on a triumphant note!   Just running at age 9 is enough, but I wanted this for him and those who love him.

 His win brought joy to my day: there are just some horses who can put a smile on your face and make your day brighter!!!!
