Yes, same thing with Hickstead.  That shocked me!  I had just watched a replay the night before of Hickstead with my family and we were all talking about him and then the news the next day.

No, it does not end and things like this you can't stop and probably can't prevent either.  All of us have to come to terms with the loss part in our own ways.  It's the flip side of the love we feel for them and the beauty of their sport isn't it?

I know you liked this colt alot also Amy.  Just cannot imagine the owner losing two like this in such a short period.

Per posts on TBC, 2 lost today:

Mannington - 6th at Aqueduct - 7 yr. old gelding making his 48th career start. Fractured both sesamoids in left fore.

Shoo Gee - 3rd at Santa Anita while on the lead - 4 yr. old filly.

May they both RIP and condolences to their connections.
