I was very disappointed to read this---so sad and may well have been a preventable injury
and death

Excellent article by Joe Drape- read this and weep! this horse had lots of issues before the horrific breakdown-- at some point he was considered lame and had been on the vets list more than once.

Yes, I read that. I believe all horses coming off a vet list need to have scans on their legs.

I remember the article about how devastated New York Thunder's trainer was after the horrible spill-- I felt bad for him- Now I am thinking if he acted responsibly this horse would be alive

I hated reading this article, this horse obviously had a big problem brewing and it was just a matter of time. Shame on the trainer and owners.
I think joint injections means no race for 30 to 60 days. Maybe mandatory scans prior to the injection? To make sure it’s not something bigger brewing.

RIP Pastor T, my condolences to his connections. This does not help Baffert in anyway…..

Sigh- so sad ----
I imagine a necropsy will be done and they will look to see if the horse was recently injected with a steroid
