Very cool!!

Keith Asmussen Follows Family's Riding Tradition

Twenty-one-year-old jockey rides Senor Jobim for his father, Steve Asmussen.

hen Steve Asmussen speaks to his 21-year-old son, Keith, on June 15, he will say the same thing parents have uttered to their children countless times: "Be safe."

The young man isn't going out that night or doing one of the typical things that cause parents anxiety. He's climbing aboard Senor Jobim, his first career mount, in the featured ninth race at Lone Star Park. His father owns and trains the 6-year-old gelding in the $35,000 allowance race.

New whip rule in effect, but think we may see fines and such at first? Although it doesn’t mention punishments per se.

Gabriel Saez suspended for 30 days due to careless riding and causing 3 horses to fall, 2 jocks with broken bones and one horse vanned off. Prayers for the jocks full recovery and the horse as well.

From what I read about the incident (didn't watch the replay), he caused injuries due to his very careless riding, 30 days IMO is an insignificant amount of time for what he did and caused. suspension for a protracted period of time (say  6 months?) would be more likely to teach someone a lesson.

I agree! I didn’t see the race as I was working, but will make sure not to watch it now!
