NY changes their procedures of split samples for cases happening thru May 21
And now, HISA says it wouldn’t have triggered the positive test

The first time I learned of the term picogram I became concerned with the amount of regulation which would come with picograms, nanograms, etc. With this and the time it is estimated to take to metabolize various drugs from the horse's system, I don't know what is overkill and what is not. Depends upon the drug, of course. Some are not permitted at all.
Was it Ron Ellis who consulted with vets well ahead of time for a BC race (I think it was) about the time required to metabolize a specific med? HIs horse did not metabolize it rapidly enough, so it was found in his system and Ellis got in trouble for this. Could have forgotten details of this incident, sorry.
And then there is the danger of cross-contamination from feeds or employees. There is nothing safe enough anymore.

I Think so far, HISA has gone over the trace amounts of most drugs and have adjusted their limits with regard to cross contamination, feed, etc. Local jurisdictions will have to follow HISA guidelines now.
