O’Brien and other trainers/owners not sending horses for the Cup because of the requirements of the scan. If a horse is lame I understand however to put a runner thru a nuclear scan and quarantine requirements are asking a lot.

Do the horses there have to have the scans, or are they just saying European /O’Brien?
not fair if only O’Brien, although why wouldn’t he want a scan on his horse(s) ? He didn’t have the fatal injury last year and a few during training at home…..

Only horses coming from Europe.
Yes O’Brian has had a few breakdowns including a runner last year in the cup, unfortunately it is part of the nature of the industry.
To single out European shippers is unfair.

A nuclear scan means no training for 3 or 4 days. The horse is injected with radioactive isotopes and sedated for the scan. They are then radioactive for 24 to 48 hours till their body expels the product. It is not something that is utilized on sound horses.
