Trushan won the race: Stradivarius was way back --- it was only 13  days since his last race--- he looked hopelessly locked in on the inside but never really made much of a move-----i feel bad when he loses!

https://www.racingpost.com/news/international/derby-winner-anthony-van-dyck-fatally-injured-in-melbourne-cup/457472

Sadly Anthony Van Dyck broke down in the Melbourne cup and had to be euthanized.

I first read this on another site and am in total shock. I was not even aware of the Melborne Cup-

I follow European racing as some of us do here and this horse was always in the highest level races.

 RIP

Oh no! I wonder if their racetracks are to blame? Several injured racing down under recently? My condolences to his connections, I will miss watching him race!:(

Rule changes coming after the death of Anthony Van Dyck

Good to hear!!!!    Apparently the track surface is very different in Europe v Australia and they are thinking that could have something to do with the breakdowns that have occurred .
