 I missed the actual incident, but heard them talking about it later. 

That could have been very very serious: glad it was not.

The starters really screwed that up!

He was lucky! That starter should have noticed and heard the jockeys too! Another reason for starters in the gate.

It was a great race and he had afterburners!

They did! 

He sure was! Yes gate crew in with the horses could have avoided that accident. But I do not think Europe will ever have stall handlers in with the horses as we do.
