I think CDI took advantage of Mr D, advanced age, and not in good health when they purchased it? I think they believed that CDI would continue racing with their history, including his children and board and may never have thought it would come to this? Or the kids were greedy and wanted out, not thinking their lifestyle was due to racing?

yes, but now their foundation is getting them an advantage, in a tax break, i would guess......more so than racing

CDI opened a casino down the road and didn’t want competition from its racetrack and why they didn’t apply for casino at Arlington. It’s all about the money for CDI, but horse racing is what got them to this point and they’re turning their backs on it.

the foundation is really a big deal for cancer research and immunology, so would guess there is a bigggger kickback there for the family
and he is a billionaire, still living at 99yrs
and he was already linked to CDI before selling it to them

I knew he was still living, but I find it hard to believe he knows(understands)now how CDI handles their customer service since he was very much like Keeneland in how he took care of his customers. I also think the Chair or CEO changed after CDI first bought it and he wouldn’t have been involved in any changes by then.

yes.......think his kids and others handle his $$ and his (their name is on the Foundation)
He also bred horses, but I did not know that. or forgot.......think his family talked him into selling to CDI

I wasn’t aware he owned Hill N Dale in Illinois, no wonder they never wanted to allow visitors.
But I think the original partner with Hill N Dale broke off and set up the one in Kentucky which has bloomed in moving to Xalapa, although the first Kentucky one was beautiful but I can’t wait to visit this new one!

There is so much in this article that I would never have thought of on my own. Your content gives readers things to think about in an interesting way.

His son is blaming politicians, why didn’t they sell their other casino, put one in at Arlington?
