I was crushed when Tiz did not get to the wire first! I adore the horse from the start of his career, with his noble presence, good looks, natural ability and coming from my home state for a change! I think on this day,Authentic was the best, but still believe that Tiz is more talented,,and either did not have enough time between races, and did not like the track! I felt sorry for HonorAP who got stuck in the beginning and still managed to almost catch up and come in 4th. I
look forward to seeing Tiz in the Breeders Cup after a deserved rest.

Yep, I hope they stick by that decision for TTL (to NOT go to Preakness). Sounded like there was "some" consideration of it, but I hope they just train him up to the Breeders Cup. I'm New York-based also, and this Derby outcome was heartbreaking for me. I just turned off the TV after the finish and moved on to some other activity.

I think it was a combination of not liking the track and not enough time between 1 1/4 mile races. Nevertheless he ran a great race and I am looking forward to seeing him in the Breeders Cup: he is a majestic looking horse and I love him to pieces.

I love TTL too. Jack Knowlton spouted off about going to the Preakness (I guess for retribution) but I think he will calm down, with other clearer heads around him. They should just focus on going to the Breeders Cup with TTL.
I don't know how much to trust Beyer ratings, but Authentic received 105 for his win in the Kentucky Derby. TTL earned a 109 Beyer rating for his run in the Travers.
No one has explained to me yet about why TTL did not like the track at Churchill Downs. TTL has won at Belmont (a weird track), Saratoga, and Gulf Stream. What is so different about Churchill Downs?

I also had read about Jack Knowlton wanting redemption by racing Riz in the Preakness. Trainer Barclay Tagg express his opinion that Tiz should aim for the Breeder,s cup. I always believe owners should listen to the trainer,so I hope this happens.
i am not sure about the track at Churchill Downs not being liked by horses, but just heard one comment about the softness of it. It is strange that Tiz’s two losses occurred on the same track!
i just hope the health and welfare of Tiz should come into all decisions when to race him! Like so many fans, I look forward to seeing this champ stay safe and show his great talent in the future!

Authentic got a 105 Beyer rating for the Derby. Tiz's highest rating it 109. - Not that that means all that much, but I think Tiz does better under longer layoffs. (Authentic had a good space between races.) So, the Tiz team should just train up to the BC. I hope Tagg's opinion is respected.
It's just dreaming, but I would love to see Tiz put away Authentic and Maximum Security in the BC :)
Let's hope Keeneland is not a mushy track!

I am also hoping Tiz' s connections agree to train him up to the Breeder's Cup: with a little time between races he should be ready to roll: Love him and want him to win the Breeder's Cup with Maximum Security coming in a close second!!!
