Here are a few of my observations and why I believe Baffert.

1) Since 2019 California Racing has toughened up the scrutiny of trainers. Every drug is logged for every horse and administered by an approved CA vet.

2) KY received then horses medication record and did a pre race sample test. Nothing came up in the test and Betamethasone is not on the medication list.

3) Bob knows he is under the microscope because of the issues in 2019 and 2020, there is no way he does anything that would be illegal.

4) There are people who want to end racing and I do not put it past a group or individual to do something nefarious.

5) It could very well be  caused from cross contamination of some sort. Since the drug is used for humans as well.

I’ve posted an article on how positives are determined, on the horse research thread.

I agree ... Why would anyone cause a horse to test positive on purpose with two Triple Crown wins.

In my opinion, BB would never purposely do anything that stupid-  There is a lynch mob mentality out there: I go to different sites and it is ugly-- That said, I don't know what to think about him. I believe he is the best trainer out there--- but he has had a history of violations--Now, he is banned from New York tracks: I can see owners removing their horses from his barn so they can race in NewYork this summer. He may file a lawsuit against the NYRA but I don't know the ins and outs of how far that can go so that he can bring his horses to New York.  One thing, he should have kept his mouth shut a bit more and not talked about a "cancel culture"-- he didn't make any friends when he did that.   I also hate that he is being equated with scum live Servis and Navarro who really did dope their horses. Baffert did not use a banned substance. If anything he and his staff were careless with the use of betamethasone.  I hate when horse racing takes a hit like this.

Baffert is a great trainer, unfortunately many people in the industry think he dopes his horses because they win.
He has been a bit sloppy of late and while he has 5 recent bad tests they are not all within 1 year.

Justify’s was 3 years ago and this was explained as a food contamination. Other trainers had the same positive come up at the same time.

Charlatan and his other runner at Oaklawn last year ended up being tossed, there was also another horse that day that came back as a Lidocaine positive.

Gamine in the Oaks last year was a legal thereputic that was administered 18 days before the race, the withdrawal period is 14 days. Once again if CDI pre tested for all substances this would have shown up.

MS same thing full pre testing would have shown the topical as a positive and they could have stopped use early and no positive.

I do too. The casual person, who only views the Triple Crown races, most likely feels Medina Spirit not winning the Preakness and coming in 3rd means he was "juiced". We know better than that.

Hopefully, the Horse Racing Integrity Act will pass.
