 I am puzzled since Baffert's horses are not allowed to run in the Derby and his horses don't get Derby points-- is that right?

You are correct. Arabian Lion had been transferred to Tim Yakteen in hopes he would earn Derby points and be able to go to the Derby. However he had a disappointing work and Tim and Amr decided it was in his best interest to not be pushed. So he went back to Bob. I know he ran well at Keeneland last fall, so they shipped him to run here to see where he stand’s against some of the east coast horses. No points will be awarded but if he runs well I bet we see him at the Preakness.
