Mims is special. She has guided Cheryl, Pam and I through many rough spots. Cheryl and I struggled many times wondering where the next dollar was coming from, we'd be down to the last bale of hay with no funds and something would happen...a dream of Mims, a donation out of the blue because someone hundreds of miles away suddenly remembered a race he bet years ago which he won money and decided to google the filly he bet on...something always happens.
Two years ago I started having some health issues. I needed help on the farm I could no longer work my day job of 40-60 hours and put in the needed 40+ hours to care for the ladies and do repairs, mow pastures etc on the farm.
I asked for help. Pam and her family, now known as the barn fairies. moved in.

Oh Jeanne!
When I've visited you and the Ladies, you've told me amazing stories.....about every wonderful one of them......you truly have a gift......your ability to "see" the story, and tell it in such a rich, powerful way is captivating.....you should write a book about your Our Mims ladies! I would PRE-BUY it for sure!!!
Reading tonite about Our Mims.....and your relationship with her.....the way she has communicated to you in your dreams......I am in tears....as I am each time I visit....both your farm...and your website!!! I hadn't realized Sugar & Spice was Our Mims sister......how long was she with you? How old was she? What a wonderful gift Mims gave you....to heal your heart with her......and how special, that she trusted you SO.....with her own sister...... AND THEN.....the Exactly So part......oh my.....
I look so forward to reading more of your stories & insights.....AND to visiting you again soon in the new year.....how is Hana Bride? She stole my heart.....
I keep Our Mims and all connected in my prayers.....and look forward to finding ways I can help.....
Blessings,
Kathleen

WOO HOO, Kathleen!!! HEY and HELLO!!! I didn't know you were here! It's good to see you. Oh, please tell us, who was your favorite lady? |

I know that Mims would want all of us to move forward to help all those who a
ren't as fortunate as she was in her last years. She maintained her dignity when times were tough for her. Surely we can all do the same.
From all the other stories you've told me, I honestly think that she is your guardian angel.

Not going any where, we need more people like Jeanne ane Joe for sure. Did you see the Dymaformer colt at Joe's today. His eyes look just like Barbaro's. His name is Totally Platinum.
Joe is a great guy! I will not tell Cathy your in love with Joe, I am too! Taking care of 104 horses everyday. Hat's off to them both.

Yes, Jeanne! I learned of Our Mims on this board (really, all I know of horses, I've essentially learned because of TWR/ABR!!).....there was a short thread about 6 months or so ago about the Ladies & you.....I became acquainted with Linda from Maine thru that thread.....visited you only about a month later....and then again in October with Linda and her friends....
My favorite Lady is Hana Bride.....but I also must say....Jamra makes me just smile and feel very happy......
Is everyone doing well with the weather change?

Sugar and Spice was 27 when she came to OMRH. Poor baby. Her condition would make you cry. Her physical condition was bad enough but her emotional condition was much worse. If you have read Barbara Livingston's MORE OLD FRIEND'S, you'll know. Sugar arrived on May 7, 2004 and passed away on Spetember 13 that same year. We were able to restore her health and dignity. She knew, beyond a shadow of a doubt, she was loved. Sugar was a gift to me from Mims, I have no doubt. She was my healing. It's because of Sugar that I know I can continue to take in one lady after another. Sugar, sweet, sweet, Sugar, who needed to pass with someone who loved her, not alone. I am convinced that Sugar and other horses hold on long enough to find a safe haven to die in. Once found, they can go in peace. Sugar and Hope of Glory bonded quickly. Hopey grieved herself to death after Sugar died and left this Earth one month later. |
