Los Al has new protocols for the track in regards to Covid-19 and the board is happy- day late and a dollar short in my opinion!

Better late than never: Unfortunately sometimes it takes bad things happening to induce change for the better.
7/21/20
The problem that the virus didn’t start when they ran their races, protocols were put into place at other tracks already, they thought it wouldn’t affect them.

Ruis to get a settlement agreement, and new board to have a hearing on the Justify matter. So we’ll see if it goes further .....

Except we don’t know yet what that settlement agreement will be yet. They ‘previous’ CHRB dropped the ball. Hope that horse from Montana is declared the winner.

Finding of bone loss in fatal leg injuries
The results showed that 90 percent of fractured PSBs from the cases had visible discoloration on the surface of the fracture, most commonly (70 percent of the time) in a characteristic crescent pattern. Directly below the cartilage, evidence of bone loss was noted in 70 percent of cases. This bone loss was located in the same region as the discolorations. Fractured PSBs had lower bone volume fraction and tissue mineral density within the lesion sites than comparable locations in opposing limbs and controls. These regions were contiguous with the fracture lines. Evidence of microdamage was also observed in fractured PSBs.

I haven’t had a chance to read the full article yet. I am wondering if they know the reason(s) for the bone loss.

Should we go to a rating system for claiming races? Sounds like a good idea to keep horses from changing barns so often and decrease their risk of injury?
