Always follow horses with German lines since they are bred for stamina and longevity. Also grateful to Brad Kelly at Calumet for valuing this type of horse.

As I mentioned today, German stayers. Loft, German-bred, just won the two mile Belmont Gold Cup (G-2). I was hoping for Cibolian to win because he is a Temple City (Dynaformer). Cibolian did finish 4th, almost 3rd. Waiting to see how Jackie's Warrior does in next race.

Rich Strike’s dam to be bred to Munnings, she’s 20 now, I hope this is her last foal…..

Thank you for this article; will read it tonight.
Did you happen to read about Americain having died in Australia recently? Altho I knew he was sold to Aus., I did not know that in earlier years (2010) he won the Melbourne Cup and in 2011 won Prix de Raux and Moonea Valley cup. Came 4th in Melb. Cup that year, too. He was retired and broke his leg at the farm in Aus. Was put down there at 17 yrs. of age.
Americain earned almost 6 mil. in 34 starts. Another link with Dynaformer gone. May he rest in peace.

No I hadn’t heard that, RIP Americain. I can’t believe he was that old already!:(

Thank you for providing the link to this Northern Dancer article. Am always fascinated with current day horses who have up-close great producing sires or dams behind them. This much Northern Dancer in the pedigree is just exciting. Reminiscent of all those Mr. P's not very far back (complemented with outcrosses on the other side of the pedigree of course!). Inbreeding can be a great tool in the hands of pedigree experts who also understand when to outcross. Complete outcross pedigrees can be pretty interesting to read, too.
