Sunland EHV-1 Outbreak Spreads To Texas Today's tally of EHV-1 confirmed positive horses is 74. Two of the horses confirmed today reside in Texas; they belong to a trainer who has horses at Sunland. The information on these two positive horses was submitted to the Texas Animal Health Commission for follow-up.

EHV-1 Confirmed in Texas County
The Texas Animal Health Commission Feb. 19 said it has confirmed equine herpesvirus in two horses in El Paso County. Both horses showed signs of respiratory illness, fever, and nasal discharge, when evaluated by a local veterinarian. The horses tested positive for EHV-1 but neither horse showed signs of the neurologic form of the disease.

Sam Houston Updates Shipping Policies Due To EHV-1 Concerns - Horse Racing News | Paulick Report
Due to the serious nature of the recent outbreak of the neurological strain of Equine Herpesvirus (EHV-1), the following entry policy will be implemented at Sam Houston Race Park, effective March 6, 2016 and until further notice: No horses (including pony horses) will be permitted to enter the grounds of Sam Houston Race Park if they are coming from a county with a facility or race track that is under quarantine for the EHV-1 Equine Herpesvirus, or if they are coming from a county adjacent to a county where quarantine has been issued.

Payson Under Quarantine After EHV-1 Positive
Nearly 500 Thoroughbreds in training at Payson Park Thoroughbred Training Center in Indiantown, Fla., will be quarantined for three weeks after a horse tested positive for Equine Herpesvirus-1 Feb. 29. Payson Park general manager Mary Gallagher said the 21-day quarantine begins today, March 1, for all horses on the grounds.
