For people interested in incarnations of The Jazz Singer.

I'm not a huge Jerry Lewis fan, but I suppose he did this as a homage to Jolson. It's not too terrible, and some of the minor roles are quite good. Love that kid, Barry Gordon -- who was later a standout in one of my favorite movies, A Thousand Clowns.

Have to confess that Jerry Lewis left me cold, I didn't like him at all. I've seen his version of The Jazz Singer and really didn't like it. In my view he brought no 'heart' to the part.

Of the four versions of the story I would rate them:

Al Jolson first (of course)

Neil Diamond second

Danny Thomas third

Jerry Lewis fourth

The above is only a personal view of course.
