I have to share what just happened when I visited the website for Collectors' Choice Music. As I first do whenever I encounter any CD/music site, I immediately typed in Al Jolson in the search engine. (I do the same via the index whenever I pick up a book about showbiz.) Surprisingly, the only CD that popped up was one by....wait for it...............AL JULSON. I have never heard of this guy, but evidently he's a folk musician/composer. The CD album includes his collaborator, wait for it...........LARRY PAST. Unreal. So the CD features Al Julson and Larry Past on the cover. Strange, weird, coincidental.
The kicker is there are no Jolson CDs listed. What has happened to the good old Collectors' Choice Music site? I used to get a nice catalogue of CD offerings, including Jolson works, but that was years ago.
Looked it up, here is a video ... watch for the opening title
Makes you think there is an inside joke here!
An homage, perhaps.
While we're on the subject, how about this?
OK, I just again checked on the Collectors' Choice Music site, and NOW actual Jolson CDs are showing up in the search. Weird that they would not appear an hour or so ago. Here's a link to the JULSON folk music guy:
Go figure, especially after seeing that YouTube video of something else altogether. If this is supposed to be a joke regarding Al Jolson, it's not funny. Just idiotic.
