Is Donald Trump Evil, Mentally Ill Or Both

My personal feeling are the correct answer is “Both”. Many mental health professionals very have explicitly said that Trump is a classic case of someone with a narcissistic personality disorder. See: https://www.usatoday.com/story/opinion/2017/05/04/trump-malignant-narcissistic-disorder-psychiatry-column/101243584/

I have been re-reading M. Scott Peck’s book, People Of The Lie: The Hope Of Healing Human Evil and Trump fits Scott’s description of malignant personality to a tee.

As a related matter, maybe you would like to take a short test that is designed to see if you suffer from a narcissistic personality disorder. Try it here.

In the spirit of complete disclosure my results were. “Your narcissistic score is 15. Chances are you have nothing to worry about.

You do realize that is just your opinion, don't you?  It is likely that you are like most people in that you confuse your opinion with the "truth".

Truth is found in consensus not in personal declarations.  Do you agree?

Are you basing this on what somebody else says Trump's behavior is like?

Should I base your evaluation on what your adversary might say about you?

Is Trump a troubles soul? Perhaps. I don't think he has it all together. But evil? No. Sick? He has the best medical care the country can muster.

Does he have a great memory? I don't think so. Is he brilliant? I think not. Does he deceive others? I think he deceives himself.

Should he be president? I didn't vote for him. I didn't think he was qualified. I don't understand why people did. Maybe those people are as "sick"' as Trump is?

Well yes and no.  Since I am not personally able to observe his behavior other than his public utterances (speeches. tweets etc.) I have to rely on the opinion of qualified experts in the field of psychology and psychiatry.  I have listened to the opinions of his supporters as well as his detractors and like the majority I find him woefully inadequate not only as a person but especially as a president of the country.

That is the only way I can evaluate someone that I can't observe directly and for those who say that this is not a fair or accurate way to make that evaluation I would allow them their opinion, but not agree with their conclusions. What are you suggesting as an alternative?

Are the people who voted for him mentally ill (sick)? IMO, no, and I wasn't implying that in my original post. like me they made a judgment based on their limited observations, personal filters, and desires.  That's the system we have and I support it, I also support The Constitutional rights that allow for the removal of the president for crimes or his inability to perform his role.

Well I agree with your conclusion.

Agree again. So far he has committed no crime, has he? The crimes were by those around him and often before association with him.  "Ability to serve" is important I think.

Well "so far" could change and we could unfortunately be looking at impeachment.  That would not be my desired solution. I would favor removal by way of the 25 th amendment.  It would send a much clearer message to congress and any replacement executive branch.

You can't fool most of the people all of the time.  We need a change in how government is defined and perceived.  Is that possible? I think it is, but it could be a generational process.

My problem with impeachment or incompetence is it puts the VP in charge. I don't know if that would be better than Trump. We are just trading one fool for another.

Well there is that, but I think the message it would send to the Congress The Country and maybe the world would be worth the risk. Waiting for Tump to change is the worse choice, IMO.

Trump has lasted longer than I predicted. I figured he would break down before the first year. I don't know about any message it would send to anyone to get rid of him.
