First of all, huge thanks to YWN for being so cool about this.

I'm sure you are aware of the catastrophic fires that are destroying my beloved home of Australia.

So here are some links to organisations that could use a few bucks.

Official ones are:

The Red Cross Disaster Relief and Recovery

The Salvation Army Disaster Appeal

RSPCA - NSW

Wildlife Rescue

There are also a stack of "Go Fund Me" pages.

This is the Master List, so you can choose a specific town, volunteer fire brigade or wildlife sanctuary to help out.

Cheers, and have a great 2020.

Jenifer

Unfortunately it is too late to save the billion+ animals that died in the fires but at least we can help bring back their habitats and help the surviving animals.  I understand that new growth is already appearing in some of the burned areas.

It depends on what, or who you want to help.

If you're looking for specific, devestated communities - take your pick.

WIRES (the Wildlife Rescue) is doing well, I actually spoke to a lovely woman there this morning.

RSPCA is always a safe bet, but there are specific animal shelters there.

Otherwise, Red Cross or Salvos are long standing organisations who know what they're doing and can get people what they need.

I'm a sucker for an orphaned joey, so I'm making joey pouches.

I suggest you look to the smaller, independent sanctuaries.  They're not getting much attention.

Also, I might change WIRES to Wildlife Victoria.

Another lovely lady I talked to today said they are not getting as much attention as NSW.

Red Cross never.  Money goes to the top, no guarantee it will go to Australia

Then one of the smaller wildlife sanctuaries would be my suggestion.

To summarise the last two hours in Melbourne, six days before the : > Dalila Jakupovic retires in coughing fit due to smoke. > Eugenia Bouchard leaves court for medical time out; breathing issues > Maria Sharapova ends match early due to smoke/heat. Everything else fine.
