Alongside all facts, I wonder if any of the countries where they do not have laws that gives people some form of democracy or adequate protect for their right - don't know what they don't have or losing in the first place.
Sociocracy another form of democratic system of governance based on consent decision making, circle organization, and double-linked representation.
Plato's Ancient 'Democracy' does not apply in the third world with authoritarian laws- we all know that pretty well, people only try on perpetual effort...
Historians like to quote A. N. Whitehead who said:

When CITIZENS actually need to talk about democracy; the rule of law is to accept those that they might have abhorrence and they should be able to criticize them without creating a war to reverse opposed and conflicting ideas.

Roger Scruton will have a very hard time to find anyone in the Middle East thinking along his peaceful train of thought.
We do know that most of the citizens go by emotional and choleric outburst, revengeful mentality and act to these condition with crushing and violent deeds.
More warmongers from the around the world should learn something from Roger Scruton, this guy lays-out social issues so easily to understand!!

There's nothing universal within the Middle East and its vicinity within their religious conviction with brings up a lot of conflicts and offensive behaviours.
Unfortunately banning video documentaries happens all the time in North American sites, it absolutely intimidates people away and often people don't bother to say anything anymore...
