I'm more thinking - how big is this in Australia?
It dominates everything. It has also forced some staunch deniers to pull their heads out of the sand.

In the world?
The Pacific is helping us out - which is a WONDERFUL dose of some much needed shaming. They're sending over 1000 firefighters from PNG, also we're getting financial aid from islands that are sinking due to our reckless attitude towards coal exportation.
The whole WORLD is watching, for the simple reason that Australia is the litmus test.
Oh, and a big Cheers! to Pink for raising $45,000,000!!
Rich, first world countries are watching in horror as another rich first world country is ACTUALLY suffering the effects of global warming.
It's the wake up call the world needed. Nobody would care if this was happening in Africa. Hell, nobody cared that it was happening in the Amazon! Nobody cared about the Pacific Islanders.
But this is front page news that no one can look away from.

Will a whole portion of Australia now be written off as uninhabitable desert?
The Great Dividing Range is the only thing holding back the desert from the Eastern seaboard.

It is on fire. If it is destroyed, we will never recover, because the trees are needed to make rain. The drought will just spread.

How much will GDP be affected?
The Small Business Association has called for government ministers to "just shut up and sit on the back bench", as in resign their position, because their staunch refusal to accept the facts staring them in the face is killing us.
Tourism? Forget about it.
Also, no one would want to come and work here, like backpackers - who we rely on quite heavily during harvesting.
Hundreds of thousands of livestock are dead and farms destroyed.
And vineyards. Precious, precious vineyards.
I do not see us EVER recovering from this.
