I'm quite sure Berry will say something about this. Oops, I forgot Berry's current status in here. So let me channel () Berry:

"And if the Zionists hadn't expelled Mahmod and all his family from Jerusalem, he wouldn't be the owner of the store, unable to recruit the teen employee who called the police. Thus, George Floyd would still be alive!"

I hope that was pretty close to Berry's thinking.

We have exactly the same situation happening here.  I guess you have to live it to understand that media has an agenda, and it's not always the truth.

That maybe as you say Katie, but then so do you and so do I. We all have OUR truth, but nowhere is the police more brutal than in the US, and racism is rampant from way back; and while now it is more or less reduced to blacks, browns and immigrants other than Norwegians, it used to include the Irish, who now make up a lot of the NY police force.

We all have our prejudices and unconscious bias against some people, the difference is in how we express them, show themand act upon them.

I am disappointed that you don  not even want to see a sliver of hope for change in all of this. It seems to say that you are not going to revise yourself to see if you, like all of us could do better.

How would you like me to revise myself.  Explain to me how I can do better.  I've never lived in a racist neighborhood and I was raised in a very low-income neighborhood.  What I remember about that is we were truly a neighborhood.  I remember running around the neighborhood with a little girl that just happened to be black.  We didn't know we were different colors.  There was never talk at home about that black neighbor or that japanese neighbor, and this was shortly after WWII ended.  My father fought side by side with blacks and every other color that was in the air force.  My parents never distinguished their friends or mine as white or black.  All were welcome in our home.  My kids friends, black, white and yellow, were always welcome in my house.  No, I'm not an activist, but I truly believe all this hate is driven by power-hungry "politicians" and sensation-hunting media.  Am I now supposed to hate whites because someone tells me to?  You may not believe it, you will probably call it a conspiracy theory, but all of this is agenda driven, and it's not for the good of our black neighbors.

Minneapolis is disbanding its police force.  It will be interesting to see who comes running to help when their citizens are being hurt.

I suppose you would have cheered if you witnessed it.

It is difficult to have a conversation with someone who genuinely believes this about me.

We could talk about the inherent problems with what the police are expected to do in any given community, from maintaining law and order, handling domestic disputes, dealing with the homeless and the mentally ill.  We could even talk about how taking some of the funding from the police to set up different community departments who specialise in mental illness, homelessness and social mediation would ease the burden on police and be better for the community as a whole.

We could talk about the fact that the reason you have never had a problem with the police is probably because of the colour of your skin.

I could put up the latest statistics of mass shootings in the US - but that's a whole 'nother debate.

But right now I just cannot get past the words of this woman.
