Flags are the rallying point for all soldiers , they have a representation and deeper meaning far beyond their worth , the Romans had their Eagles and as time progressed Armies then had Flags .

My Tanks had skull and cross bones and they were greatly feared when we were called upo to appear

Why would you fly an enemy flag in your own barracks?

You wouldn't want an ISIS flag hanging in your barracks.

We had Hezbollah flags taken as Souvenirs by various units , the taking of the flag indicates the defeat of the enemy, some people used to take heads or noses or the right hand of their enemies go back further and they used to cut off the penis of the dead rather than do a body count .. imagine coming home in the good old days with a large bag of John Thomas's just to show what a good soldier you had been ?

These flags are displayed in barracks with the same reverence as the US flag.

After taking a Hezbollah flag, do you raise it up a flagpole and salute it?

No, the flags were emblems of defeat of the enemy
