I'm glad they were well received.
Surfing will be a difficult event to permanently add - given not all seas have decent surf, not to mention landlocked countries.
There is clear skill and athleticism needed for BMX, skateboarding and climbing. I don't see why they should not be permanent additions.

Surfing might be a problem for a few countries but there are surfing pools in a number of countries. The Yeppoon one in OZ produces 8 ft. waves. Not quite as high as sea surfing but should test a surfer's skills nevertheless.

The truth is, artificial waves are the fairest way to have the competition. Everyone is surfing the same wave under the same conditions.

TOKYO (AP) - The final act of the delayed Tokyo Olympics and Paralympics came Sunday, almost eight years to the day after the Japanese capital was awarded the Games. The Paralympics ended a 13-day run in a colorful, circus-like ceremony at the National Stadium overseen by Crown Prince Akishino, the brother of Emperor Naruhito.

I'll bet the Japanese are glad it's all over. Mind, both events were memorable and considering the pandemic, the Japanese did a good job. They did rather better than I expected.

Yes they did, but the network coverage was abysmal. Sorry, but hours of Ping-Pong left me with too few "Olympic" memories.

I assume you're not in the UK.
The main Olympics were well covered with at least 10 channels devoted to it on Eurosport.
The Paralympics were well covered by Channel 4 with 1000 hours devoted to it.
I saw all the events that interested me apart from the Wheelchair Rugby Final, but that was my fault. (I got the day wrong!)

I think we had 3 channels devoted to it here.
Plus the timezone was the same, so no having to get up at 3am to watch the swimming finals.

I'm afraid Live Olympics started at Midnight so there was a huge amount I didn't watch live.
