Thoroughly enjoyed the Olympics, especially all the new sports.
I must admit I was a sceptic where BMX, skateboarding and climbing were concerned, but I was glued to my TV when they were on. Really exciting. The Japanese did well.

I'm glad they were well received.
Surfing will be a difficult event to permanently add - given not all seas have decent surf, not to mention landlocked countries.
There is clear skill and athleticism needed for BMX, skateboarding and climbing. I don't see why they should not be permanent additions.

Surfing might be a problem for a few countries but there are surfing pools in a number of countries. The Yeppoon one in OZ produces 8 ft. waves. Not quite as high as sea surfing but should test a surfer's skills nevertheless.
