The suspicion must be that its a Brexiteer who dunnit, revenge on professionals doing their best for the country both at home and abroad.
We've been repeatedly told that there is pressure from the Brexiteers to make Nigel Farage the ambassador in Washington.
I can't see it working, quite honestly - even Boris Johnson surely knows the danger of turning our Foreign Office into a political arena and handing out ambassadorships to political appointees, big donors etc.
And Nigel Farage, despite being an elected MP (on the EU system, a "party list" with himself at the No 1 position) has repeatedly failed to win a seat in the House of Commons (first past the post in a constituency vote) and been shunned even by the "Leave" campaign and Tory MP Brexiteers.

The comment has come from a big mouthed Ambassador who passed his own opinion , there will be many who will agree with Trump that the Obama deal was weak, short sighted and gave Iran everything with little in return .
The eventual deal when it arrives will see Iran with no Nuclear ability , its financing and arming of its proxies curtailed but in exchange it will see's its economy become ever more buoyant and the Iranian peoples have a far better life style .
The Iranians know where it will end so does the US at the table , there are more than likely several interlocutor's even possibly today passing messages
