You should have seen my seat's ballot paper.

10 candidates and the one I wanted to vote for drew slot 10.

Because of compulsory voting a lot of people do the "donkey vote".  That is when you just number 1,2,3,4... down the list and go home.  The Liberal candidate drew slot one, Labor drew 10 and the clown car was in between.

Hannah Beazley (Kim's daughter, so Labor royalty) was up against a liberal incumbent AND voter apathy.

She still managed 48%, despite 7 of the 10 candidates being conservative moron parties who ALL gave their preferences to Liberal.

So there is hope for her in 3 years time.

Well meaning Brits who wrote letters to Ohio voters, after all, urging them to vote for John Kerry in 2004, were pretty much the example of how well that idea works out.

That's rather different, there cannot be this number of racists in Oz surely.

18 October 2004 ... Have you not noticed that Americans don't give two shits what Europeans think of us? Each email someone gets from some arrogant Brit telling us why to NOT vote for George Bush is going to backfire, you stupid, yellow-toothed pansies ... I don't give a rat's ass if our election is going to have an effect on your worthless little life. I really don't. If you want to have a meaningful election in your crappy little island full of shitty food and yellow teeth, then maybe you should try not to sell your sovereignty out to Brussels and Berlin, dipshit. Oh, yeah - and brush your goddamned teeth, you filthy animals. Wading River, NY

... KEEP YOUR FUCKIN' LIMEY HANDS OFF OUR ELECTION. HEY, SHITHEADS, REMEMBER THE REVOLUTIONARY WAR? REMEMBER THE WAR OF 1812? WE DIDN'T WANT YOU, OR YOUR POLITICS HERE, THAT'S WHY WE KICKED YOUR ASSES OUT. FOR THE 47% OF YOU WHO DON'T WANT PRESIDENT BUSH, I SAY THIS ... TOUGH SHIT! PROUD AMERICAN VOTING FOR BUSH!

... Real Americans aren't interested in your pansy-ass, tea-sipping opinions. If you want to save the world, begin with your own worthless corner of it. Texas, USA

... I enjoy reading your paper and agree with your politics, but this is really too much. Your plan, if carried out, will hurt the Bush opposition TERRIBLY. We cannot afford to have this associated with John Kerry or anyone else. It will be; the press is going in for a kill, days before the election. United States

... Hey England, Scotland and Wales, Mind your own business. We don't need weenie-spined Limeys meddling in our presidental election. If it wasn't for America, you'd all be speaking German. And if America would have had a president, then, of the likes of Kerry, you'd all be goose-stepping around Buckingham Palace. YOU ARE NOT WANTED!! Whether you want to support either party. BUTT OUT!!! United States

Please be advised that I have forwarded this to the CIA and FBI. United States

... We all enjoyed this at work. Cheers. United States

Keep your noses out of our business. As I recall we kicked your asses out of our country back in 1776. We do not require input from losers and idiots on who we vote for in our own country. Fuck off and die asshole!!!!! Knoxville, Iowa

Mind your own flipping business. United States

... Who in the hell do you think you are??? Well, I'll tell you, you're a bunch of meddling socialist pricks! Stay the hell out of our country and politics. And another thing, John Kerry is a worthless lying sack of crap so it doesn't surprise me that a socialist rag like yours would back him. I hope your cynical ploy blows up in your cowardly faces, you bunch of mealy-mouthed morons! United States

I used to visit the UK every year. I love the history and culture of your country. But after I heard about your campaign to influence our elections, I've decided that neither myself, nor my family will ever visit again. I'm offended by your campaign and because of it, I'm remembering more of the negative aspects I've seen in the UK than the positive ones. Though I still love the castles! Detroit

... You radical leftwingers are worse than the Taliban. I suggest you stand back and take a good hard look at yourselves. PS: When do you propose to add Michael Moore to your staff of lunatics? United States

... As a US citizen, I want to advise you that you and anyone that participates in subverting the US presidential election can be criminally charged and perhaps even charged as spies. California http://www.guardian.co.uk/uselections2004/story/0,13918,1329858,00.html

Time to Make Australia Great Again

Rachel Withers, an Australian writing in Slate, wonders, "What the bloody hell just happened in Australia?"  The recent Aussie election was to that polity what the Trump triumph was to America, and the chattering class can't come to grips with it.

It's the Trump story all over again.  All the indicators showed the Establishment Left (E.L.) candidate comfortably ahead.  All the experts predicted E.L. victory.  The polls showed it, the scribes touted it, and the talking heads agreed that the bloke who eventually won, one Scott Morrison, had no chance.

So why did he win?

No mystery.  Whoever underwrites the E.L. in Australia is to blame for everybody getting it wrong.  Well, that and the self-delusion the Left has become so famous for.  People are tired of ineffectual government, and even more, they're sick to death of E.L. lies, obfuscation, thuggishness, and criminality.

Polling is not trustworthy because it's always rigged to favor the Left.  Segments of polling populations known to tilt Left get larger representation in the samples.  It happens all the time here in the States.  People are now aware of it, and the more it persists, the less it convinces anybody.

There's also the known fact that conservatives are far more private than leftists, who scream their beliefs from the rooftops.  Conservatives remain quiet to avoid leftist unpleasantness.  Given the relative conservative silence, all the leftist racket may make it seem everybody favors the Left.

Finally, most people aren't leftist, but conservative.  The average guy votes against somebody more than he votes for somebody else.  The more lying and misrepresentation he sees and hears, the more it reinforces his determination to vote against the noise and the unpleasantness.

This electoral outcome may have been unpredictable, but anybody with any sense could see it wasn't impossible.  We wish Mr. Morrison all success in Making Australia Great Again.

Actually it was Clive Palmer who ran with a Trump campaign.

He's a fat, rich idiot who shouts Fake News at the press, used a Make Australia Great slogan, boasts about his wealth (while cheating his workers out of their pay) and refused to listen to all the complaints of fraud and lies during his campaign.

He lost.

Australian PM firm on climate change, in shades of Donald Trump

Image result for Trump and scott morrison

Scott Morrison has mirrored Donald Trump’s tough stand with G20 leaders in his negotiations with the Pacific Island Forum over climate change and coal — and emerged stronger as a result.

Australia refused to accept a communique that might satisfy the emotional needs of some regional leaders but would jeopardise Australia’s economic and regional security interests.

The red lines set by Australia were met and the final communique did not overstep progress made by the UN conference regarding the IPCC’s report on 1.5C warming.

The communique pulled back from mentioning coal or what actions member countries should take. Instead, leaders reaffirmed climate change as the single greatest threat to the livelihoods, security and wellbeing of the peoples of the Pacific and their commitment to the implementation of the Paris Agreement.

Leaders acknowledged the challenge for the forum would be maintaining regional solidarity in the face of more intense political engagement, which may serve to divide the forum collective.

Along with other nations, Australia is being called upon to lift its ambition on climate change action before an already agreed timetable set for next year.

Mr Morrison’s challenge is not to allow Australia’s position to be misrepresented by vested interests. Australia has a story to tell on climate change action that is at stark odds with how it is often portrayed. Last year, Australia was among the world’s top investors in renewable energy in absolute terms and the biggest on a per capita basis.

Billions of dollars have been set aside for land-based programs, which are a big new focus for the IPCC.

A telling point before the backdown of demands at the Pacific Island Forum was that leaders asked for Australia to provide details on what it actually was doing.

The understanding of some leaders had to that point been informed by media reports.

The lack of support shown by New Zealand leader Jacinda Ardern for Australia will no doubt be remembered, but is of little real consequence.

Scott Morrison is a heartless coward.

The Pacific island leaders were in tears, desperately trying to save their homes and their people.

Morrison couldn't give a shit who dies, as long as we can make money selling coal.

These two bastards can't see beyond their own greed.
