And their source is Reuters or Associated Press. Some stories come direct from foreign correspondents living in the cities.
The source of the article is cited at the bottom, or a link to a bio on the reporter.

The ice sheet around Greenland is melting at an unprecedented rate according to a new study by scientists using satellites to measure the loss. They say melting between 2017 to 2018 was reduced, but 2019 saw a record loss of the ice mass.

It took me all of 30 seconds to find that the record was not 130 degrees but 134 degrees in 1913. You're saying we shouldn't expect a good journalist to be able to do the same? "and possibly ever"?
