Cool!
But that would have been more than 20 years, though (time flies). She died in 97.
Try to pin down the year.
Were you living in London or just visiting?

Our Mother lived in London until the last 8 years of her life , she had created a large property business so my brother and I visited her as often as possible
I will guess it was early 90’s can’t tell you exactly as at the time it was not that important , we had seen HM several times driving her self in and around Knightsbridge ( she had a navy Rover then later a Daimler ) strange to think that she passed through her subjects and was albut invisible

Read my mail again , I held the door open for her and she passed and smiled she was then followed instantly by two men both of whom i could see were her security detachment , one of whom asked me if I knew who she was ..

My sense of that moment was the lack of pomp attached to the lady she was not pretentious

One doesn't have to be rich or poor to have manners and decorum. Civility doesn't have to be "uncommon", and the brilliant ones have always shown decency.

There is attached to Royalty in Britain a sense of pomposity , Princess Diana's appeal was that lack of Pomp and circumstance

Having finished reading the entire compiled books of Jane Austen in sequence, for some several months, my husband has gently admonished me for speaking in a perhaps, antiquated way.
I choose not to be constrained by the modern vocabulary, however, but do agree that Pomposity is most disagreeable.
The current circumstance of an American beauty of some color, rather than pale, as a Royal, might be appalling to the propriety of a particular classist form of regal identity for some, but, I must declare that the couple seems happy in their domesticity, and thus, there should be no reproach.

Morning Roses and Humming Birds abound,
If you are one of the Royal Prince's , imbued with a sense of Noblesse oblige and if your Mother was the Darling of the People then Your actions in falling for a lady with an hue less than translucent porcelain will be accepted by most of those that pay for the priveldge of keeping you iin Range Rovers and Bentleys
If you are aidded and abetted by teams of PR professionals you could commit Murder and be forgiven
Fear not all will be well
