Flaunting genocidal heroes again?

Most of his biography at the Wacky is based on two editions of this source:

  • Serle, Percival (1949). "Monash, General Sir John". Dictionary of Australian Biography. Sydney: Angus and Robertson. Retrieved 12 March 2011 (5 mentions)
  • Serle, Geoffrey (1986). "Monash, Sir John (1865–1931)". Australian Dictionary of Biography. Canberra: Australian National University. Retrieved 12 March 2011. (13 mentions).

However, this resource is notorious for covering up much of the dirt.

In 2018, Clinton Fernandes wrote that ADB is conspicuously silent on the slaveholder or slave profiting pasts of a number of influential figures in the development of Australia, including George Fife Angas (? ambiguous information), Isaac Currie, Archibald Paull Burt, Charles Edward Bright, Alexander Kenneth Mackenzie, Robert Allwood, Lachlan Macquarie, Donald Charles Cameron, John Buhot, John Belisario, Alfred Langhorne, John Samuel August, and Godfrey Downes Carter.[5] [6]

... The entries were written in the 1960s and await to be updated.

Now, it happens that Monash doesn't appear to have been linked to slavery - but neither is he linked in any way to being Jewish. He's buried in "Brighton Cemetry" as has a Jewish section - but we're not told if he's in it - and there is nothing on his grave except his name.

The Wacky also records that " He was one of the principal organisers of the annual observance of ANZAC Day, and oversaw the planning for Melbourne's monumental war memorial, the Shrine of Remembrance " - a WW1 monument that was later extended:

After World War II it was felt necessary to add to the Shrine an element commemorating the Australian war dead of the second great conflict. Once again a competition was run ... Milston's design was eventually chosen as the one to go ahead,[34] and the result was the World War II Forecourt ... the Eternal Flame ... and the World War II Memorial ... dedicated by Queen Elizabeth II on 28 February 1954.[34]  https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shrine_of_Remembrance

But apparently, makes no mention of the Holocaust!

No such doubt concerning Monash's attitude to indigenous people's - the Wacky records that "In 1927, he became president of the newly founded Zionist Federation of Australia and New Zealand.[50]".

So he was 100% in favour of beating robbing and killing natives for their land by settlers!

I will let you be offended by the idiot . If Monash was not an Australian  Hero then who was?

Everybody was.  Right up until the 1960's.

False.

We fought WW2 to finally put an end to "Right of Conquest" and the mass-cancellation of citizenship on grounds of faith (or nationality).

And that's what we wrote into the Charter of the United Nations.

A document and a membership that Israel begged to sign up to and join. (And swore to comply with two crucial resolutions just passed by the UN).

Nor is it the case that anyone supported it after 1919 - other than the Zionists "In 1927, he [Monash] became president of the newly founded Zionist Federation of Australia and New Zealand.[50]".

The history of Monash's enthusiasm for gross human rights violation (unless you tell me that they were entirely understandable in Austrialia?) may be rather less significant than the question "Why do you support beating robbing and killing people from their homes today"?

I'm talking about Australia and the land, and children, stolen from the Aboriginal people.

Not false.

One could make a case that the Ozzies, over the period since 1945, were the second most evil society and nation and regime in the world. I believe they've almost entirely pulled themselves out of that and, while there are big problems (landless black families abandoned by society) they're almost entirely operating on humanitarian policies.

And/or you can argue that Australia was the third last place to operate apartheid.

What I don't understand is why you, as a person, don't see (or, more likely, refuse to admit you can see) what a terrible cancer we've created in the Middle East and the importance of stopping it metastizing further.
