Racism and America’s Concentration Camps | Mas Hashimoto | TEDxMeritAcademy

Remember when the American government unjustly incarcerated 120,000 persons of Japanese ancestry, most of whom were American citizens, during WWII?  Mas Hashimoto will compare how Japanese American incarceration during WWII and the massive discrimination of Muslims post 9-11 are both founded in hate and racism.  Learn how “Make America Great Again” really translates to “Make America White Again.”  Learn about what you can do to stop this form of racism and take active steps to protect everyone’s civil and human rights. Mas Hashimoto was a child when his family was taken from their Watsonville home in 1942.  He was sent to a federal prisoner of war camp during WWII because of racism, war hysteria, and political leadership failure. Mas taught US History in the Pajaro Valley Unified School District until his retirement.  He speaks to groups of students about the wartime experience of Japanese Americans during WWII to ensure that this injustice never repeats itself again. Mas also headed the Re-enactment of the Incarceration of Japanese Americans during WWII: “Liberty Lost; Lessons in Loyalty” in 2002, and serves on the Board of Directors of the Watsonville-Santa Cruz chapter Japanese American Citizens League. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at https://www.ted.com/tedx

Gillespie, yes, that was the poor guy who was forced by the IRA to drive a bomb-with-wheels through a checkpoint.

Some American politicians demonized Al Qaeda, the Taliban, IS, etc., but romanticized about the Fascist IRA/INLA.

Even though things winded down somewhat after 9/11, that still gets my fucking goat up.

A key cultural attibute of the U.S. is the <<RIGHT>> to life, Liberty, and the <<PURSUIT>> of happiness (Note that happiness is not a right).

So in answer to your question of "how long", the answer is simple, as long as it takes the average American to accept the fact that the solution to America´s problems require that they have to limit their personal pursuit of what makes them happy. Take the response of the governor of West Virginia, commenting  on restaurant closures, if you want to eat out, just do it and go to a restaurant.

Or maybe only thousands will die (still tragic) if only some Americans stop being obtuse and arrogant and follow what their local/federal government tell them to do (STAY HOME, MORONS!!!).

I have being out only twice in two weeks to buy some groceries. I don't drive so I have no need to buy gas (petrol/gasoline).

Sorry, the page you requested was not found.

If I survived Irma and María in a two week span and survived without electricity for four months, then I'm fine with the coming season...if I can survive the Pandemic.
