I think the Indian Civil Service will be able to record the deaths but the numbers are so overwhelming that cause of death will be ignored.

I agree that the situation in India is dreadful, despite it being a major producer of vaccines. I note the Indian Gov has ordered social media not to refer to the 'Indian variant'.
"India's government has instructed social media companies to remove any content that refers to the "Indian variant" of Covid-19.
The IT ministry said the World Health Organization (WHO) listed the variant as B.1.617 and any reference to "Indian" was false."

It wouldn't surprise me if a border war broke out between India and Pakistan over Kashmir. There have been several already. And, of course, China has its own border disputes with India and is friends with Pakistan.
