I've lived in the same house since 1981 and never had a trick or treater. It is not part of local culture. Occasionally, I used to have 'Penny for the Guy' kids, but none in the last couple of decades. Have had the occasional carol singers, but in the past. Nothing this century.

We don't really have many kids in this area.
Of course, there were stacks when I was in school, but they grew up and the parents are now seniors all living in the same houses.
Australians also have an inherent need to reject anything they deem to be "too American".
Also, it was a miserable night. I think it hailed in the morning.

It just wasn't 'celebrated' where I lived. The main event for us kids was Bonfire night. and 'penny for the guy' and bonfire building were the important things.

Instead of imagining, look at reality where the African perception of farming is to overgraze with goats and scrawny cattle, desertify and move on to repeat the process.
