No. I was literally referring to desertification, not crop-rotation or allowing land to be fallow for a year..

Diversifying a farm is the best way to save it.
Farmers who stubbornly wait for rains that never come to serve one crop or species of livestock are putting everything they have on the line with no control over the success.

Farmers are totally dependent on their government for leadership in that respect.
If the climate is changing they need to be told and they urgently need research as to what's happening to the climate.
