I think its very naughty to claim the Gay movement for the US when Gay sex had been legalised in the UK in 1967, 2 years earlier.
At the very same time legalised discrimination against British and other gays was being ramped up by the US:
On May 22, 1967, the Supreme Court of the United States upheld the Immigration and Nationality Act of 1952, which among other things banned homosexuals, as constitutional. This ban remained in effect until 1991.
... Since June 26, 2003, sexual activity between consenting adults and adolescents of a close age of the same sex has been legal nationwide, pursuant to the U.S. Supreme Court ruling in Lawrence v. Texas. As of June 26, 2015, all states license and recognize marriage between same-sex couples as a result of the Supreme Court decision in Obergefell v. Hodges.https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/LGBT_rights_in_the_United_States
It was another 30 years before the US started to catch up.
The US was always going to be late to the party.

The most backward place in the Western World?
The largest most radical part of Trumps followers are the Evangelicals and as the Messiah is expected any day now they dont care about climate change because they are not going to be affected (i am being funny , they are being serious )
Switch to any single US bible thumper (John Hagee or Jimmy Swaggart or any of the others) you pay your cash , you get saved and when the Rapture occurs up you go and bugger the rest --- it is there in the Bible

Not sure if I've posted this here before, but this will be great for your train ride!
U.S. tax law allows television preachers to get away with almost anything. We know this from personal experience. Our Lady of Perpetual Exemption will not be...
I enjoy watching them on TV , they make their promises of redemption and hope, they empower the stupid and can make the deaf see and the blind hear
They all live wealthy lives all have enriched themselves and today the 2nd and 3rd generations are on view
Swaggart cries , his oaf of a son cries and the grandson cries , the tills clang and they all stand in the house of the lord
