Barley farmers are bracing for a major financial hit as China's new trade tariffs effectively kill off their premium market and force them to try and sell their grain to less lucrative global markets.

This post is simply a news item. Your decision to post it, as opposed to some other time sends a message, which I suggests is a passive-aggressive crit of China. China does not owe anything to Australian barley farmers, so why should it care if they feel that their state is unfairly treating them.
Aside, I am against embargos as a matter of principle, because I feel the <<PEOPLE>> benefit, as opposed to specific business and political interests. The would should be one market, one which Trump has upset not just in deals with America but spinoff, sort of domino theory in other countries such as Australia.
If this is a crit of China, which it seems to be an exension off, why not tell both sides of the story and inform us why you think China is not justified in this action. For example is this possibly related to the U.S. tariffs against selling soy beans to China which is hurting U.S. armers.

... reading further into your URL, I think I see what is going on. It indicates that China has no objection to a European investigation, but feels that Australia following the U.S. and no other country is n insult when only the U.S. and Australia in their request for an "independent" (what ever that means, but probably U.S. approved) investigation, in stead of the structure already set up by WHO. Note that Trump is slamming WHO, not for any proven facts, but probably a coverup for his and the U.S. fault in the matter. Australlia, in this case is acting like a wannabe player in a U.S. game.

Since Australia began calling for an inquiry into Covid, China has halted imports of Beef, referred to my country as "Gum on their shoe" and raised tariffs on barley to 80%.
They have also included threats to strangle other areas of our economy (Chinese university students are a big cash cow here).
It is a good wakeup call that has proven to us that we are too heavily reliant on trade with China.
Incidentally, the barley fiasco goes further, in that all the barley we were trading with them is now being sourced from the US. Given that the US actually DO destroy crops just to control prices (this is the false charge that China is throwing at us in order to justify their actions), it is a great way to throw a spanner into our relationship with the US.
