Didn't they just have one of those?

Yes, in 2014. However, a lot has happened since then and the SNP wants another. The Gov won't want one because they're wedded to the idea of an indivisible UK.

I look at it from two viewpoints: 1. I'm 100% in favour of a people ruling themselves if that's what they want and 2. We wouldn't have to subsidise the Scots any longer.

"the first country in Europe to pass 100,000 coronavirus-related deaths."

At least we're mostly through the third variant wave. The rest of the world has that ahead of it and it is exceedingly unlikely that many  countries will vaccinate in time.

Presumably a different ilk of 'note' to what the piano tuner had expected to find that day.

Where else would you hide your treasure but in a piano?

Bedford conducted the world premiere of Britten's Death in Venice in 1973

I note Bedford had to retire early with Parkinson's. Sad about that, though my musical enthusiasms are some distance from Britten.
