Like old cowboy movies, the cavalry comes to the rescue, just in the nick of time.  https://youtu.be/MYFyDLAFbOM?t=330

Thank God for the M113! The most "beloved" vehicle known to mankind (esp. M. Sparky)!!

I saw the whole movie online. Pretty good movie. Funny to watch Ragnar from the Vikings* facing VC Charlie! ;-)

*one of my sons is a big fan of the series.

I wonder what explanation those movies can offer for VC winning the war, while they are generally protrayed about as stupid and suicidal as Star War droids?

Did the VC win that war?  I was under the impression that the US just got tired of playing, picked up their ball and went home.

Ha!  Yeah, I had many discussions with Mike Sparks in past years.  As I recall, he even got the Army to give him an old M113 that he customized to demo his upgrade ideas.

Those discussions with him were the inspiration for the article on pp 8-11 of:  https://www.benning.army.mil/infantry/magazine/issues/1997/JUL-DEC/pdfs/JUL-DEC1997.pdf

I did not recognize him in the clip.  Only later noticed his name in the credits of a teaser/trailer.

I used to watch it, too.  Until the switch here from cable service to antenna TV, which doesn't have the History Channel.

Well that sounds like a pretty good definition of 'loser' to me.

Are there North and South Vietnam yet, or just Vietnam?

The VC got crushed. The NVA kept fighting until we left. And after we left.

Hilarious! I hadn't watched that in years. That scene should have gotten an Oscar.

PS before anyone gets too smug, remember that the same thing basically happened about 10 years later to the other team in Afghanistan.... :-P
