Was there other companies other than FN in the competition?
Afaik on 2004 FN was awarded for the SCAR program development. But there's not much info about which companies beside FN submitted their proposal.

Colt, knights, robinson, and possibly others.

There's a lot less information out there about the Knights SCAR SLICK and the robinson stuff but here's a couple slick pictures.
The slick is based off the FN FNC btw.
The colt guns are based off the AR naturally and the robinson gun I don't know anything about. I think the AR above the slick may be a colt entry.

A pretty neat rifle from the examples I've handled; love the ambi bolt release in front of the trigger guard.
