The issue is autonomous and just semi autonomous enough drones are very possible for even diy guys to make in their garage.

Both the knowledge and parts are proliferating quickly as well as new axial flux motor designs that are both cheap enough to be expendable and powerful enough to make much smaller drones carry much larger payloads.

For now all of this is relatively esoteric but it's definitely beginning to proliferate.

Luckily for US troops JSSAP is very much on the case and working multiple solution sets simultaneously.

Nowadays there are DIY methods (advanced but achievable ones) of follow a simple path even without GPS. And the vast majority of RC jamming works agains 2.4Ghz. For instance, there isn't almost any prevision of jamming GSM, LoRa frequencies, etc.

And good enough computer vision navigation and targetting adquisition systems are close to be ready. Just check github

There is not guaranteed passive counter drone systems anymore. Fewer and fewer drone attacks are going to be halted like so. Drone defense already needs to be layered, and some of the most important layers are going to be active. Some of them are already mounted around drone vs drone architectures

I should have some radar data for the 20 x 139 mm and 30 x 113 mm somewhere...

Well, I also found another old topic dealing with that matter...

Just for the fun of it, the maximum recoil force of NEXTER 20M621 (20x102 mm) is ~250 daN, the 30M781 (30x113 mm) is ~550 daN and the 25M811 (25x137 mm) is 1750 daN.

EDIT: correction (20x137 => 25x137), thanks Tony.

So 20x102 has under half the recoil of 30x113 and 7 times less recoil than 25x137.

That explains a lot of choices.

Do you happen to have the values for 50BMG and bigger guns (30x173, 35x228...)?

Wonderful info as always.

I found this brochure for GD's earlier prototype thats very similar to the proposed XM915:

https://www.gd-ots.com/armaments/aircraft-guns-gun-systems/xm301/

The specs list recoil at 3.5kN. That would be 350 daN right?

Typo - 25M811 uses 25x137.
