Elbonia is rejigging and has decided to keep logistics simple, and especially in ammunition. So the following catalogue is decided

  • $PDW round$ for all forms of sidearm
  • 6.8x51
  • editedit. 375 CT
  • 30x113 (standing in for .50 BMG)
  • edit: 30x59 GL
  • 40mm CTA
  • 120mm Mortar
  • 130mm Tank
  • 155mm Arty

No high power sniper rifle for Elbonia?

Also, the gap between the 6.8x51 mm (3.3 g powder load) and the 30x113 (50 g) is pretty wide.

Good luck trying to launch a rifle grenade with your suppressed 6.8x51 mm, or expecting that no one will ever try to launch a rifle grenade with an ADVAP, I think that you can't avoid the 40x46 mm.

oops on the sniper round - .338 NM added. And good point on the suppressor with rifle grenade

Isn't this list a bit too usefull for Elbonia?

Shouldn't it be more like:

7,62x39 for all small arms.
14,5 for HMG and sniper
20x102 for AC
107 mm Mortar
115 mm or 120 rifled tank
5,5" arty

LMAO - I am using Elbonia as a lab, but I get your point. Maybe use Kneedonia for actually useful stuff.

No Generals or superior officers in the Elnonian Army, nor guards, MPs or military ceremonies?

If so, they will need a pistol!

But even with a pistol, the mix could be very limited:

  • 9x19 mm for pistols, and a SMG for VIP protection,
  • 6.8x51 mm for PDWs (with a 8" barrel, firing only the Training Practice round), the carbine (13.5" barrel), the DMR (16" barrel) and the LMG (16" barrel),
  • 338 NM for the sniper rifle and the MMG (dismounted, RWS, coaxial...),
  • 30x113 for "low recoil" AC application (if you can't fit a 30x113 mm, then use the 338NM),
  • 40x46 mm for infantry HE lobbing.

They all carry the PDW, which is designed to be carriable that way. Concealed carry with a compact or subcompact pistol might admittedly get a bit loud ... For argument's sake assume 7.5x27

6.8x51 is the rifle/SAW

My thinking exactly

I agree.  If the point is to fool the Elbonian military into getting equipment that seems like a good idea but really is not, 14.5mm is the smallest thing I would recommend for the sniper rifle.  On the other hand, they might get suspicious if snipers were given 20+mm rifles.  Even better,  the "good idea fairy" might suggest to economize by buying old and inexpensive (but inaccurate) surplus ammo.

Well its for the large caliber sniper rifle/AMR.
The regular marksman and sniper rifle use 7,62x39 like all other small arms.
Because the good idea fairy of course loves caliber standardization.

well, old and over storaged suprlus ammo would be the icing on the cake but since standardization is an end to itself, as we all know, of course there is only one grade of 14,5 ammo in the supply chain... MG grade.

The 20x102 can be used in AMRs too but this is not the reason i picked it. Its the smallest, lightest AC round in widespread use. Its also awefully close to the 14,5 and for most application not powerfull enough by modern standards. But its cheap and lightweight.
This combination of HMG round and AC round do not complement each other.
