Given the decision to use 30x113 as the HMG "overreach" option, the Elbonian Gener Staff commissions a study as to whether there is a use case for a gas powered, mechanical striker (in other words no need for electricity) LWAC to be developed to be used as a pintle gun and for things like camp defence.

There was at least a demo mounted one fired from a pintle with a red dot sight:

The concept seems meh to me, unless the M230LF is pretty cheap (doubt.jpg)
I think if Elbonia needs an intermediate weapon for pintle mounting between the 6.8 GPMG and the 30mm RWS, a 6.8 Minigun would fit the bill.
6.8 24" barrel clocking 3200fps x 3,000rpm would likely be about as fierce a pintle mounted gun as Elbonia could get, and also negate any need for a new caliber.

Mechanical striker, specifically in the form of a 2-barreled Gardner gun. Ligt enough to be dismounted if needed. (They worked for the British Army.)

probably more than 3200 fps (edit: taking that back. I don't seem to be able to get it faster). And much as I am not a fan of gatlings, I am finding it hard to disagree with you.

Couldn't watch this since I don't have Telegram, but from what I have seen in a video further up, probably yes. The gatling seems easier, not sure which one to go for. US are going 30x113. @Schnuersi would suggest 20x102 or so.

Yes, weight / blast / rate of fire / weapon cost all make the pintle mounted AC a suspect choice for defending trucks and other light vehicles.
The exception being something like Nexter's 20x102mm, which is being used not so much for defense but as a long range standoff weapon for targeting distant enemies. Sort of like a pintle mounted rapid fire anti material rifle in employment.

M230LF makes sense for RWS, ASP-30 would probably be better for manual pintle but concussion for either (especially on small vehicles) makes the idea of either a bit yikes if you're behind the gun or right under the barrel in a HMMWV. As much as I prefer 30x113 over 20mm, the long barrel of the 20mm might make more sense for manual applications from the concussion point of view especially on softskin and light wheeled vehicles, though I don't think either are really appropriate for dismounted tripod work.
For dismounted operations and for soft skin and light vehicles, I keep going back to the idea of an XM-307 sized gun. Sort of a "western AGS17" shooting something like the same 30x113 projectile with a shorter case, instead of the original AB 25mm. Of course that puts us square into .50 / Mk19 territory, which 30x113 RWS would be a suitable replacement for on larger vehicles.
I suspect Mk19 would have better effects but the XM-307 could end up as a compromise between that and .50 wrt trajectory, tof and ammo packing density.
It wouldn't have to use the same projectile as 30x113, but it already has a superquick fuze and HEDP and it would somewhat simplify ammunition manufacturing. Unfortunately aside from proof of concept in 25mm it's pure hypothetical so I doubt we want to commit to something like that...
