While I hope this will lead to a return of the bullpup, it's likely we're going to see more SBR conventional rifles.

Until someone can crank out AUGs as cheap as a Kel-Tec RDB, Stoner and Kalashnikov will be the dominant races.

There is some overlap, but mortars tend to have shorter barrels, operate at lower velocities, and generally operate at over 45° muzzle elevation. They have less range, but more explosive/frag effect for the system weight. The overlap comes with "direct fire" mortars that work at much lower elevations, but still relatively low velocity.
Most other long-range artillery tend to use relatively longer barrels, higher velocity and lower elevations. Overlap comes especially with "time on target" fire from a single weapon at long range. A single weapon can fire multiple rounds at the same target, but using a combination of elevations and sometimes propellant loads (different velocities), have all the rounds land on the target at roughly the same time.
