looking at the maxim silenced pistol that was released recently, i thought you could have a gun which is much shorter, by using boberg/bond arms reverse feed.
the ammo would be a 9mm case modded to much higher pressure, and a very long 230grain 9mm bullet, which adds 6-7mm to the legngth compared to 9mm luger.
3.8 inch barrel and 2 inch suppressor - total length is similar to a 1911 gov.
do you think this would be a success for LEO or would the pistol struggle to meet a low price point?
could a 8mm or 9mm reach 230grains if the bullet was 7mm longer than 9mm PARA?

In Europe police are almost exclusively on RUAG ammo with markers for ballistic labs in primers that contaminate bullets, powder and case so that when you do crime scenese and bodies you know who was shot by cops and who by the perps, so you have to work with that. Also in Europe police barely shot anyone so doubt they care much aside from intervention units .
So qestion is what do LE in US want.

Expense of gun, controllability of the gun, ignorance of average political type about suppressors in the US means it wouldn't be a success.
230 grain 9mm is also a rifle bullet. See 9x39 and .350 Legend, although their subsonic loads feature slightly heavier projectile weight.

Although suppressors where allowed are making inroads.
Our domestic police seems to be installing a HK416 in every police cruiser trunk (in the past it was an MP5 ) and they are actually looking for suppressors for those
I have one of them on the table for them to test out over next week

Suppresors i am trying to sell to police are Silent Steel made in Finland, which are in my opinion the best flow trough suppressor in Europe, they also do not cost an arm and a leg .
But i have to admit B&T are rammed down the throats of the European police force on the merit of Insurance. As a firearm manufacturer 'recommends' in reality prescribes B&T to keep the warranty it really hard to push anything that doesn't massively outperform B&T, Manufacturer 'prescription' is then taken as gospel by the insurance industry that ensures Police an that is the tallest hurdle to overcome.

I am waiting for the paperwork to clear on a B&T rimfire can to clear, one of the US-made ones. Sounds like maybe I should hope someone partners with Silent Steel to make their cans over here?
And as bad as being locked into one suppressor company is, it's better than finding out your $3,500-4,000 FN will not be covered if you use a suppressor.
27-Sep
While Silent steel has a FN test and approval so we might be able to push for FN ,with HK its not the case ,but as the rifles are not new it might not matter.that much.
For end user great feature besides the low back pressure is that suppressors are user serviceable, and also have a bullet trap option for shooting blanks and a simunition core available not to mention you could if you wanted change cores from 5.56 ,7.62 or 9mm in same body
In this episode of TFBTV Show Time, @JamesReeves visits with the Finns of Silent Steel to hear (pun) about their high end European suppressors at EnforceTac....
