Update, I have the printer kit here finally. Now to build it.
Oh, and I was turned on to a different control system/scheme to use which should massively improve my prints from day one called Klipp3r which uses a Linux stick pc or something else with an ARM processor to establish more open loop control of the extruders and etc.
I've also found myself a better laser option that I won't outgrow as quickly.
New plan as follows.
Dual Bowden extruder setup, direct drive (possibly dual direct drive setup), and laser capable of limited laser cutting/scoring of 1mm sheet steel etc.
I've also got parts coming for the mill over the next two weeks.
This should get me to the capability level necessary to do what I've set out to do here.
Very cool. Keep us posted. I always wanted to get into 3d printing but lack the CAD skills for that.
It's way easier than you think, I can almost guarantee that.
I'm not anyone special or anywhere close to a mechanical engineer and I can do it... Hell there's even freecad packages with flowsims now!
Part of why I'm doing this is to encourage others.

As you can see, it really doesn't take much to get started.
Ha! It takes more space than I have available. Your basement is bigger than my apartment...
That's one of the things I'll be working on in the process of this Stan.
Just so you know though, if I had a bigger budget they sell desktop multi machines that are part >3 axis mill, 3d printer, and laser cutter. They run about $3800 for something that can handle essentially 10x10x10 inch projects.
Because my interests are varied though and I'm going to be making custom trim parts etc for cars as well to at least partially defray the cost of my hobbies, I had to go a different route.
In Many ways my setup isn't ideal, just looking at the harbor freight drill press with a harbor freight milling vise "custom installed" on it's base plate that I've been doing AR receivers and pistol builds with should make that clear. Especially when you see the second vise also "custom installed" to the actual drill table that I use to hold my AR vice blocks and etc LMFAO!
Anyone who has used an HF milling vice is probably wincing right now because to say that it can get a little dodgy is the understatement of the century.
The reason I didn't just save a bit more money and buy one of the all in one machines comes down in a lot of ways to my actual enjoyment I get from putting together tools and solutions and figuring things out.
Frankly I'm having unreasonable amounts of fun figuring out how to use what I have to make my next batch of tools and upgrades . Plus this all really kicked off when someone I know who I showed things I did with my ultimately dodgy drill press setup and their response was they never would have known I was using something so dodgy if I hadn't showed them because the work I've been doing turns out really nice. (takes me unreasonable amounts of time and setup but apparently I produce very nice work) having people around me that believe I can do things to make this easier for other people to do definitely pushed me in a direction where I'm not just looking to make fun little projects for myself but also do discover better ways to do things for others.
I find joy and peace in all of this. I want other people to do so too. Maybe that's weird I dunno, but it's what I'm going to do.

Yeah I'm very familiar with fosscad deterrence dispensed, the gatalog, weapons guild, weaponeer, and other places as well as following Ivan's keybase. I need to look into Kadecad's stuff more though since he has a 3d printed AR that's still straight pull for now where the only metal is bolt bbl and extension. Looks like even his carrier is printed.
His latest iteration may even hold up to full power 450 bushmaster
The printer is coming along, this is just the last assembly picture I took not how far it's currently assembled. I'm substantially further along than this, but these two give a good idea of it's size and girth.
Definitely going to need a bench and maybe some racks.
