More info on the KF51 and the related Procurement Politics as pertains to the MGCS:

I seriously doubt that Rheinmetall is using Browning M2. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rheinmetall_RMG.50

Perhaps you're right. I was going by this illustration at 7:05 in the video I linked. The coax pictured looks very much like a Browning M2HB.

As discussed yesterday in the tracks vs wheels thread - the rheinmetall cutaway shows an M2, not RMG.

You should take this "info" with more than just a grain of salt because there are several claims and statements that are compleltly wrong.
For starters the Leopard 2 A7V does not weight more than 70 t. Not even close. Its combat weight is 64 t. The weight of the Panther also isn't unknown. Its 59 t according to Rh. The Panther isn't a new MBT. Its an evolved Leopard 2. The turret is new. etc

This video is also a highly questionable source.

I think you are all missing the important info here: OPTIONAL
Its all optional. The Panther is a technology demonstrator and not a specific design. They will fit whatever the customer wants. This is also why the hull is Leo2. The potential customers are all Leo2 users who can modernise their fleet by plucking a new turret and modifying the hull. Sure they would build new hulls if someone wants. Its all about what the customer actually wants and orders.

And here it is. A Leopad 2 hull with a modified Leclerc turrert. Again nothing really new.

You are missing some of the really intresting stuff. Like the Boxer tracked. A tracked drive module that can use the same mission modules as the wheeled Boxer. They also presented a gun armed mission module. So the question if a gun armed Boxer is possible is officially answered: yes and there allready is one.
It does carry a 120 mm gun in an unmanned turret and can also carry six dismounts in additon to the crew of three.
AND they now do slave the RWS into the ADS system to use the sensor suite to detect and engage drones as well.
There is also this:
Since its a Boxer mission module it also can be plucked on the tracked Boxer.

Rheinmetall is the source of the illustration. Rheinmetall – Panther KF51 main battle tank (rheinmetall-defence.com)

What is your source for that assertion? Rheinmetall makes it sound like the .50 BMG is standard armament for Panther coax, and is a specific design.
"A 12.7mm co-axial machine gun complements the main gun." Rheinmetall – Panther KF51 main battle tank (rheinmetall-defence.com)
"...every conventional tank has typically a [7.62mm] co-axial machine gun, but here we have a .50 machine gun..." https://youtu.be/jGaaZIrTmY8?t=60
Is there any info from Rheinmetall which says that other weapons like 20-30mm autocannons can be used as co-axial gun in the Panther?
