This subject has been debated over and over again on many other threads that you could dig up here with very little effort.  I believe that the general consensus from everyone here is that yes, Carmen sucks (pun intended) as far as we are concerned.  It is obvious that she could give a rats arse less about us and the bots.  But, the fact of the matter is that we as builders are in the minority when it comes to viewership.  Whether we like to admit it or not she does attract people to the show.  I personally can't stand Hobag Electra (our team pit name for her) and think that she is about as bright as a black crayon (not that I have an opinion or anything).

As far as her salary, from talking to some of the CC producers and talking with Pete and knowing the cost of the box and her talent fees for three days, yes, she makes more money than the arena costs.

I for one have stated on many occasions that I would love to see Cathy Rogers take her place.  At least she doesn't mind getting her hands dirty.  And to top it off she is smart and damn cute.  In my book that makes her MUCH more attractive than Ho... err, Carmen Electra.

As for Bill Dwyer, he has a genuine love for the sport.  He is the only commentator of the whole group that comes in during prelims just to watch the matches and go around the pits and talk to the teams.  If you think that all the stuff he says on the air is rehearsed then you are wrong.  Much of it he just improvs of the top of his head and they like it so the shoot it again.  He has a great sense of humor and is very quick witted.  He is an asset to the program.  Tim is getting better.  Arj still needs to go.  And, I briefly met the new guy but he seems nice enough (never got his name).

As for some of the skits, I agree some are pretty lame (I wound up being in one that was REEEEAL lame and didn't know it until I got into it :-p) but CC is putting up the big bucks to get this whole gig on television so they kinda have the final say.  They are just trying to keep the show from getting stale.  I know that WE all want to see robots duking it out but for the average channel surfing couch potato some fights just start looking repetitive.  That's one of the reasons that our team went overboard with our uniforms and production.  For good or bad we brought a little WWF (well now WWE) to the table.  You'll see what I mean when the season starts.

Anyway, back to the original subject.  Carmen sucks.  I know it, you know it, most of the other builders agree, Trey knows it, Greg knows it, yadda, yadda, yadda.  But, she brings viewers to the show, plain and simple.  Like it or not, those are the facts and we just have to live with it.

"she is about as bright as a black crayon"

What a terrible, horrible, demeaning, and despicable thing to say!

As a card carrying member of the Crayon Anti-Defamation League, I must insist you retract this hideous slur against Crayons of Color in general, and Black Crayons in particular.

;^)

I think the main reason they're sticking with Carmen Electra is because of the fact that BB is a manly sort of thing. Thats why there is always a girl in a bikini on car magazines. But I have to agree, Carmen needs to go. Even those bimbos prior to her seemed to know a little more or at least care more then she did.

IMO Traci Bingham was the best Battlecaster. She knew what was going on, acted interested and didn't ask "What happened" everytime.

Brian Nave would make a funny battlecaster.

I figured this must have come up before so
I actually did do a search before starting
this thread. I only found 3 posts with Carmen in them.
I guess the search engine does not go back very
far. Anyway we got a big laugh out of the
"black crayon" bit.

now, as a loyal (maybe too loyal) viewer. I will say this.

Anyone with a powerful flippy bot will do. Techno Destructo or Toro will do. T-Minus if we want to surprise her.

since Carmen is now considered as bright as a black crayon (I love that analogy), she'll never see you roll the bot up behind her and then proceed to flip her 5-10-hell, 15+ feet in the air.

We get rid of carmen, big bonus there.
It WILL be aired on tv, another bonus
and the viewers at home can gamble on whether she lands silicone-side up or not/

either way, a fun time is had by all.

If the flippy bots are unadvailable. Lure her in the box and sacrifice her to Mauler. I would ask for a virgin sacrifice, but you work with the cards dealt to you.

Best death ever!

Kathy is actually pretty smart. She has been an open nerd for a long time now...

My input on those mentioned:

Carmen - Personally, I think she was looking better for this competition. She may not know much about the bots, but she is hot.

Traci Bingham - I sat directly behind her in the builder seats for a while and heard her talking with her makeup person. She actually sounded intelligent... AND she's hot. This would be my choice.

Cathy Rogers - I also like her. After checking out the Junkyard Wars website, I noticed that she's the "Creator, Producer and Host" so I'd bet she wouldn't do Battlebots. I wonder if Scrap Daddy can add some insight to her actual personality.

Arj Barker - He came to a comedy club here in Austin TX after the competition and I talked with him a bit and saw his act. He's actually pretty funny.

Bil Dwyer - He came back to the Lincoln area while I was getting some work done and talked for a bit. He's pretty cool and seems down to earth. He ended up walking off wearing one of the Lincoln Electric beanie welding caps. It looked pretty funny. I wonder how long he left it on.
